About the role

  • Base annual rate $94,498 to $100,280 negotiable

About the opportunity

Our Families Together program walks alongside children, parents and carers facing complex challenges, helping them build safer homes, stronger relationships and brighter futures. We partner with families experiencing issues such as domestic and family violence, mental health concerns, alcohol and other substance use, and parenting challenges, providing intensive, strengths-based support that helps children remain safely at home.

Right now, we're looking for an experienced and compassionate Caseworker who wants more than just a job.

As a Families Together Caseworker, you'll become a trusted support person for families navigating some of life's most difficult circumstances.

You'll work intensively with parents, carers and children over an extended period, building strong relationships and helping families identify goals, overcome barriers and create sustainable change. Through regular home visits, advocacy, safety planning and practical support, you'll help families develop the confidence, skills and resilience needed to thrive.

What you’ll be doing

  • Build meaningful relationships with families
  • Support children to remain safely connected to their families and communities
  • Help parents strengthen parenting capacity and family wellbeing
  • Coordinate services and advocate for families' needs
  • Collaborate with government and community partners
  • Apply trauma-informed and culturally responsive practice
  • Celebrate progress, resilience and success alongside families

Your Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Community Services, Human Services, Welfare, Counselling or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children, young people and families experiencing vulnerability and complex needs.
  • Knowledge of child protection frameworks, risk assessment and family-based interventions.
  • Experience working with families impacted by domestic and family violence, mental health, alcohol and other substance issues, trauma and/or parenting challenges.
  • Strong case management, care planning and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to engage and build trusting relationships with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Demonstrated understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and child-centred practice.
  • Ability to work in a flexible manner to meet family needs – e.g. staggered starts
  • Current NSW Driver’s licence and willingness to travel throughout the Illawarra region
  • Current NSW WWCC
