Community Engagement Officer - Time for Grandparents Program

  • Location: Chermside, with travel across regional, rural and remote Queensland
  • Remuneration: $51 p/hr + Super + NFP Salary Packaging (save tax and increase your take home pay)

Your part in our UnitingCare team

An exciting opportunity exists for a Community Engagement Officer within the Time for Grandparents Program. This is a dynamic relationship-focused role which will coordinate and support community engagement, outreach and program activities for the Time for Grandparents Program.

In this role, you will work in partnership with grandparents, young people, communities and the Specialised Case Worker to improve access to support, participation, and build strong community networks. You’ll play a pivotal part in strengthening connections between communities and services, particularly in regional and remote areas, to improve awareness of the program and facilitate culturally safe, inclusive and timely access to services, brokerage supports and program activities.

Key Duties include:

Community engagement & outreach

  • Build strong relationships with grandparents, community groups and local services
  • Promote the Time for Grandparents program across communities, with a focus on rural and remote areas
  • Deliver culturally safe, inclusive engagement practices

Partnerships & collaboration

  • Develop and maintain referral pathways with community, health and government services
  • Work closely with internal teams to support coordinated, client-centred outcomes

Program delivery

  • Support the planning and delivery of camps, group activities and community events
  • Provide engagement and emotional support to grandparents and young people
  • Foster safe, inclusive and strengths-based participation

Governance & reporting

  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to reporting requirements
  • Uphold safeguarding, privacy and trauma-informed practice standards

What makes a difference for us?

You’ll be a passionate community services professional who thrives on building relationships and supporting vulnerable communities.

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant human services field (i.e. a degree or diploma in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Behavioural Science or Human Services)
  • Experience in community engagement, outreach, or community services
  • Understanding of culturally safe practice, particularly with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
  • Experience in trauma-informed practice and/or crisis intervention
  • Proven ability to build partnerships and referral networks
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and organisational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Willingness to travel and work occasional after-hours
  • Blue Card (Working with Children Check)
  • Current (or willing to obtain) First Aid & CPR
  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Australian Open Driver’s License
