About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and resilient Specialist Family Violence Practitioner to join our Rapid Response Team, delivering critical support to women and their children when they need it most.This is not just another job - it's an opportunity to be a part of a movement dedicated to safety, dignity, and empowerment. You'll work directly with women and children experiencing or at risk of family violence, providing immediate responses, safety planning, crisis support and referrals in both community settings and crisis accommodation. Working from a feminist and trauma-informed perspective, you will walk alongside those in crisis, offering them hope, support, and a path forward.

Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a fixed-term full-time position contracted for 12 months, based in Windsor, VIC. Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 5.

You Will Successfully:

  • Respond promptly to referrals and provide outreach support in community and crisis settings.
  • Conduct assessments, deliver crisis interventions, and develop collaborative case plans.
  • Connect clients with holistic, culturally appropriate services and community supports.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records to ensure continuity of care.
  • Advocate for client safety and well-being, while identifying service gaps for improvement.

You Will Have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work (or equivalent) - essential
  • Experience in family violence or child wellbeing work - highly desirable
  • Strong crisis intervention skills and a calm, empathetic approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Knowledge of family violence frameworks and child protection principles
  • Commitment to culturally safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed practice
  • A current and valid Employee Working with Children's Check
  • A current full VIC Driver's Licence
