Why this role matters

The Alexis Family Violence Response Model (A‑FVRM) is a jointly designed initiative between The Salvation Army and Victoria Police, providing an integrated, risk‑informed, whole‑of‑family response to high‑risk family violence incidents. This role is critical in ensuring timely, coordinated and trauma‑informed interventions that reduce risk and strengthen safety for victim survivors.

About the role

As a Senior Specialist Family Violence Practitioner (Victim Survivor), you will deliver intensive, short‑term, safety‑focused interventions for individuals and families experiencing family violence. You will conduct dynamic risk assessments, safety planning, crisis stabilisation and coordinated responses in close partnership with Victoria Police and specialist family violence services.

Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a fixed-term full-time position, contracted for 12 months, based onsite in Caroline Springs, VIC.

Conditions

Compensation is in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS) Level 6.

How you will make an impact

• Conduct structured risk assessments using MARAM‑aligned tools to identify, assess and prioritise immediate family violence risk.
• Co‑triage incidents with Victoria Police to ensure timely, integrated and defensible decision‑making in a high‑risk environment.
• Deliver short‑term case coordination including crisis stabilisation, safety planning and activating specialist responses.
• Engage collaboratively with victim survivors, partner agencies and support networks to ensure coordinated, whole‑of‑family responses.
• Maintain high‑quality documentation including risk assessments, case notes and reporting aligned with TSA and legislative requirements.

What you will bring

• Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent, aligned with Mandatory Minimum Qualifications (Rec 209).
• At least five years case management experience, with family violence experience (highly desirable).
• Strong understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, intersectionality, child development and trauma.
• Ability to work effectively with victim survivors and persons using violence, maintaining boundaries and risk focus.
• Experience working in multi‑disciplinary, integrated service models.
• A current Working With Children Check
• A current Victorian Driver's Licence
• Willingness to undergo Victoria Police Security Checks.
