About Toora:

Toora Women is a dynamic and compassionate organisation dedicated to providing gender-specific homelessness services to feminine-identifying people in the ACT. Our purpose is to create a safe and supportive environment for women, providing essential services and fostering community connections. At our heart we are a crisis and transitional homelessness provider, but we work across the intersections of domestic violence, corrections, mental health and substance dependency.

About the role:

As a Marketing and Communications Officer at Toora Women, you will work to raise awareness of our organisation. Your role will involve helping to develop and execute marketing strategies, enhancing our brand presence, and effectively communicating with our stakeholders. You’ll collaborate with a passionate team to drive positive change and amplify our impact.

Key activities:

Craft engaging content: create compelling content for our digital platforms, including social media, newsletters, and our website. Your words will inspire, educate, and connect with our audience.

Brand awareness: Ensure consistent messaging and brand identity across all channels.

Community engagement: Collaborate with community partners, donors, and volunteers to strengthen relationships and promote our programs.

Event coordination: Organise events and awareness campaigns to raise visibility and engage our community.

Media relations: Coordinate media releases, media inquiries, and interviews.

Data-Driven Insights: Monitor performance metrics, analyze data, and adapt strategies for optimal impact.

Storytelling: Share the stories of the incredible women we serve, highlighting their resilience and achievements.

Key selection criteria:

3+ years’ experience and tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, fundraising, or related field. 

A demonstrated ability to produce and deliver engaging and compelling content and launch effective campaigns and events. Strong writing and editing skills across print and online channels, with the ability to adapt writing style, tone and voice for different audiences to achieve impactful storytelling.

Exceptional written and verbal communications skills, capacity to manage complex projects with excellent attention to detail, as well as the ability to generate new ideas, solve problems and work autonomously on projects within agreed timeframes and budgets.

A demonstrated understanding of the media and political landscape as well as issues encountered by women with high and complex needs, particularly with alcohol and other drug dependencies, homelessness, domestic violence, sexual assault, mental health, incarceration, and women from diverse cultural backgrounds.
