About the Boite

Our vision is for a world where difference is celebrated, diversity respected and all voices are heard.

The Boite’s purpose is to create opportunities for culturally diverse music to contribute to a richer, more inclusive Australia. The Boite is Victoria’s iconic multicultural arts organisation. For 40 years it has been supporting artists from diverse cultural communities, by providing access and opportunities for musicians and singers to perform in a variety of venues and events. Through this, it has fostered creativity and promoted cultural understanding.

The Boite (Victoria) Inc. is a not-for-profit Incorporated Association governed by an elected committee of management drawn from its membership base. It has a small team of permanent staff and is supported by a team of committed volunteers.

The organisation is dedicated to providing a dynamic and prolific program that positions artists, participants and audiences at its centre. The Boite program delivers a range of offerings that provides performance opportunities for musicians through its small concert series in a number of venues across Melbourne, larger concerts in partnership with specific venues, singing projects and a singers festival, a mass choir event for schools, artist support services, on-line performances, and special projects that arise from time to time. The Boite contributes to both artist and audience development.

About the Position

This position requires someone with management experience, who is experienced in fostering a collaborative team environment, to lead the transition of this highly regarded multicultural music organisation into its next chapter. We are seeking a person who is familiar with the multicultural and music landscape, and who through experience or understanding of these two sectors will build relationships and grow opportunities for artists and audiences, and generate programs to support culturally diverse music.

The Director reports to the Committee of Management and is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Strategic and Business Plan in line with The Boite vision and purpose. Leading a small staff team, the Director provides strategic leadership, management expertise, financial oversight, builds external relationships and guides and monitors the effective operation of The Boite.
