Your new role

As our Peer Support Coordinator, you will be the catalyst for positive change in caregivers' lives. Within this role you will foster a vibrant community where caregivers connect, support each other, and thrive together. Achieving this through the creation and facilitation of a variety of peer support events and groups. Caring for a loved one is important work. Some days caring brings great joy, but some days it can be lonely or a little overwhelming. No matter how you feel today, our Carer Gateway will be just a phone call away! Carer Gateway is an initiative to provide carers with information, peer support, emergency respite, counselling or coaching.

• Collaborate and work closely with the team to create a safe space for our Carer's to connect and share their journey with each other.
• Facilitate Peer to Peer Support Groups face to face and online.
• Attend expos and local community days to promote the Carer Gateway Programs and benefits.
• Attend overnight workshops that focus on providing carers with strategies and support regarding their caring roles.

Skills and Experience

• You will be experienced in research, event planning and facilitation. Comfortable to lead carer peer support groups.
• Bachelors degree or equivalent qualification in a social studies related field.
• A passion for helping Carers live their best lives while they support a loved one to have a better quality of life.
• Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to create an experience where a caller carer quickly feels heard and comfortable both over the phone and in person. Often at a time when they caller may feel emotional, confused or frustrated navigating systems they may not understand in time of emotional stress.
• Ability to connect with people from all walks of life and link carers with appropriate support services.
• Having a confidence in utilising digital systems and strategic thinking utilising data insights.
• Available for some evening/weekend work (events are planned well in advance).
