1 FTE ongoing position-commence as frontline Child and Family Practitioner with position to become split role between frontline FaCC Child and Family practitioner and Community Development/Local Level Alliance Coordinator in future.

Family and Child Connect is a Queensland Government funded initiative aimed at ensuring vulnerable families and children have access to high-quality services at the right time to help them to maintain the family unit. Family and Child Connect is a community based intake and referral service. Children and young people are at the centre of the system, with supported and supportive parents, families and communities.

The Role:

Our Family and Child Connect team have an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to join our team covering the Beenleigh/Bayside catchment, office located in Cleveland.

The frontline Child and Family Practitioner will provide quality service delivery to children, young people, families and the community within the Family and Child Connect Service, through assessment, information and advice, recommendations and referrals to appropriate support services. You will engage with referrers and families, complete initial assessments and support at risk families to access appropriate supports to improve family functioning and child wellbeing.

The Community Development/Local Level Alliance role works within the FaCC program to take the lead in identifying key agencies and services that contribute to the service system for vulnerable children and their families and establishing a forum for collaboration and to assist in identifying service system gaps.

What you need to succeed?

As an experienced Social Worker, Psychologist, Case Worker or Case Manager you will have:

  • Capacity to engage with people from all walks of life including the local Aboriginal community
  • Experience and demonstrated capacity to build rapport with vulnerable families in a short time frame
  • Strong risk assessment skills
  • Experience identifying and addressing child protection concerns
  • Holistic strengths based approach to achieve lasting change
  • High level of professional accountability and integrity and a belief that every parent has potential

  • Build community capacity and improve information sharing, connections and networks to provide more efficient service provision for families and a thriving local community.
  • Assist in improving referral pathways for families to access appropriate services with key agencies
  • Assist with service alignment to better support vulnerable families and strengthen service integration, such as a shared practice framework and resources
  • Contribute to place-based planning for the development of an integrated suite of local services that provide families with responsive, accessible and effective support
  • A relevant bachelor degree qualification and current driver’s license
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar field
  • Current Blue Card
