Sydney Women's Counselling Centre

The Sydney Women's Counselling Centre is a community based specialist counselling service that works within a Social Determinants of Health, and Trauma Informed Care framework providing counselling to women who are marginalised and socioeconomically disadvantaged. The services provided support the psychological and emotional well-being of women, while recognising the social, environmental, economic, physical and cultural factors which affect women's health.

The Centre is funded by the NSW Health Department, The Responsible Gambling Fund and Family and Community Services, and is a legally incorporated body under the Associations Incorporation Act, 1984. It is officially known as Southern Sydney Women’s Therapy Centre Inc.

The Centre is a Registered Charity under the Charitable Collections Act. 

Sydney Women’s Counselling Centre has held continuous accreditation for 19 years. 

The primary responsibility of the Board is to provide organisational governance that ensures quality services and programs in the Centre and compliance with Associations Incorporation requirements and other compliance requirements.

The Centre is currently seeking a woman who is philosophically committed to the principles of social justice and the advancement of women’s health and wellbeing, with experience and/or knowledge in any of the following:

  • Fundraising
  • Marketing, branding and communications
  • Human resources systems
  • Social impact measurement systems
  • Women’s Health (Domestic & Family Violence/Mental Health/Drug and Alcohol)
  • Legal skills
  • Has links to organisations/communities that provide CALD services
