The role

As the Community Connect Worker at the Rockhampton Neighbourhood Centre, you will play a crucial role in assisting individuals and families who face significant vulnerabilities and complex challenges. By providing tailored, short-term support, you will empower community members through fostering social connections, assessing their needs, and guiding them toward essential specialist support services.

Working in collaboration with a busy service sector, you will contribute to community-driven initiatives, helping to build a stronger, more connected neighbourhood. Your role will involve providing information, referrals, advocacy, and capability-building support to clients of all ages, addressing a diverse range of needs with compassion and expertise.

This is a permanent, full-time (38 hours per week) position based in Rockhampton.

To succeed in this role, you should have:

• Degree or diploma qualification and/or relevant experience in community services (minimum of 3 years)
• Positive notice to Work with Children (Blue Card)
• National Criminal History Check
• Current First Aid and CPR Certificate
• Commitment to social justice and community development.
• Ability to work in team environment and autonomously
• Knowledge of local community resources; or ability to acquire such knowledge
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity;
• “C" class driver's license
• Honesty and Integrity to behave in an honest and trustworthy manner;
• Flexibility to adapt and adjust plans to meet new priorities;
• Demonstrated experience of working with crisis and emergency/disaster service delivery models
• Demonstrated experience and skill of working across cultures.
• Knowledge of and ability to work collaboratively with other government and non-government service providers and systems
• Demonstrated computer literacy skills and ability to navigate on-line systems for service users as well as client databases and data collection
• Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team environment across programme areas as well as independently
