THE ROLE

As a Leisure and Lifestyle Assistant you will play a pivotal role in delivering programs that assist our residents in building social engagement and personal development. Using your strong interpersonal skills you will help create a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes personal growth and wellbeing.

Working closely with our Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator you will deliver great programs, promote engagement, and create a safe and comfortable environment for our program participants. You will be joining a supportive and inclusive team, where you can contribute meaningfully to the community and make a real difference to people's lives. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist residents with activities that build social engagement & provide opportunities for personal and skill development.
  • Assist in promoting the activities of Frederic House to stakeholders.
  • Assist the Leisure & Lifestyle Coordinator on feedback and evaluation processes that promote consumer participation and lead to processes of continuous improvement and quality practice.
  • Assist with promoting and delivering programs/activities in collaboration with other organisations.
  • Ensure that there is a supportive, safe and comfortable environment fostered for those that access programs through Frederic House.
  • Assist with assessing the needs & responding to changes in the behaviour of the people we assist, providing appropriate information, support, and referrals.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers providing them with support and direction as required.
  • Assist with basic administrative tasks as required and allocated including data entry, minute and note taking

YOU WILL NEED

  • Relevant qualification/s and/or demonstrated experience in community development, social work, community services and / or educational program or other relevant areas.
  • A willingness to work with those who experience social exclusion due to homelessness, the impact of trauma, mental health issues, alcohol and other drug issues.
  • A good understanding of community development and asset-based community development.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to confidently apply deescalation strategies in high-conflict situations.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple and competing work tasks and deliver agreed deadlines.
  • NSW driver's licence or in the process of getting a driver’s licence and confidence to drive groups of people.
  • Computer literacy skills.
