Financial Counsellor - Integrated Services Project

Social Security Rights Victoria (SSRV) and Financial Counselling Victoria (FCVic) have established a partnership to bring together social security law experts and financial counsellors to work together more effectively to improve client outcomes.

The Integrated Services Project is funded by the Victorian Government. Following positive results achieved in 2019, funding has been received for a second year to build on year one work and outcomes. Working as part of the the overall SSRV staff team, Integrated Services Project staff include a Financial Counsellor and a Community Lawyer.

The Financial Counsellor contributes to the ongoing development and implementation of this innovative service. Key responsibilities include building awareness of respective skills, roles and professional obligations; delivery of financial counselling client services; working collaboratively on client matters with community lawyers; contributing to cross sector engagement and professional development; and identify and proposing responses to systemic issues arising through client services and project implementation.

Applicants must hold a Diploma of Financial Counselling (or equivalent) and be eligible for full membership of FCVic. The successful applicant will be an experienced financial counsellor who has demonstrated ability to work within a financial counselling framework, experience in delivery of direct client services, excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and the ability to work flexibly as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
