ABOUT THE FUNCTIONS

The Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation delivers a Statewide Multicultural Service which supports community-led initiatives that aims to prevent and reduce gambling harm, providing alternative recreational activities, reducing the stigma of gambling harm and encouraging people experiencing gambling harm to seek support and The Multicultural Foster Care (MFC) Program provides a range of services to assist children and young people who have been found to be in need of care and protection to meet their permanent care plan needs - safety, stability and well-being through a culturally aware and responsive lens.

YOUR CONTRIBUTION

The Community Engagement Facilitator will work across both functions which are the Gambling Prevention Program where you will provide CALD communities with much needed in-language information on gambling harm and interventions including therapeutic counselling and the Multicultural Foster Care Program includes facilitating training and education sessions on the child protection system & what role CALD community members can play to ensure connection to culture.

Key Responsibilities are:

• Deliver education sessions in a group setting including virtual presentation using modules provided
• Assist your community to access supports through dedicated helplines, to increase their help-seeking behaviours
• Administer and translate evaluations of the sessions by the participants where necessary
• Assist with setting up required equipment and ensure sessions are delivered as planned and on time.
• Develop and implement community engagement strategies to promote culturally responsive foster care in targeted areas and communities.
• Establish and maintain relationships with community leaders, groups and local service providers and other organisations with staff who may be interested in foster care.
• Introduce initiatives that build the community's knowledge on child protection and fostering across CALD community members.
• Establish and maintain an open dialogue between organisations, community leaders and the service sector.

About you

This is an exciting opportunity to work across two different programs and supporting the community.

To succeed in this role; ideally you will have the following skills & experience:

• Tertiary qualifications in community engagement and or related discipline or Certificate IV in Community Development/Community Services;
• Ability to engage and work with groups of people (small or large groups) tailoring communication and activities to suit a culturally and linguistically diverse communities;
• Well-developed organisational skills coupled with solid communication and presentation skills;
• Medium level skills in Microsoft Office / Power Point;
• Knowledge of gambling issues is desirable;
• Knowledge of out of home care/child protection;
• Driving licence is required;
• Bilingual language skills, with an ability to speak, read and write in English and at least one community language from India, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Sudan, Turkey, Somalia, Iraq, Syria - Assyrian, Chaldean, Sri Lanka - Tamil or Pasifika is essential.

Successful candidates will be required to travel across the Melbourne metropolitan area and some regional (if applicable) areas; and maintain flexible hours (including evenings) to be able to attend required meetings/sessions.
