Your Impact

You will play a pivotal role in strengthening how VACCHO measures, understands and demonstrates its impact across Victoria's Aboriginal Community Controlled sector. By strengthening outcomes measurement, evaluation and data capability, you will support evidence-informed decision making and contribute to stronger outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Through this work, you will help VACCHO tell a compelling story of change, influence policy and funding decisions, supporting stronger outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The Organisation

Established in 1996, VACCHO is the peak representative for the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria. VACCHO supports and empowers its 34 Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs) members to deliver transformative health and wellbeing outcomes for 78,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Victoria.

The Role

As Senior Advisor, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning, you will help embed an outcomes-focused approach across VACCHO. Working closely with teams across the organisation, you will translate data and insights into meaningful learning, support continuous improvement and help demonstrate the impact of VACCHO's work across Victoria.

You will do this by:

  • Independently manage and coordinate a wide range of evaluation initiatives and support across VACCHO projects and activities
  • Strengthen MEL capabilities and capacities across VACCHO teams and projects.
  • Evaluating design; implementation and reporting, ensuring learnings are shared and embedded.
  • Championing self-determined, strengths-based, culturally safe evaluation practice.
  • Contributing to the development of the Annual Impact Report.
  • Support the co-designing and implementing VACCHO’s Outcomes Framework and data platform.
  • Translating diverse forms of data (quantitative, qualitative, story, artwork, observation) into meaningful impact insights.

What you bring

You are a technically strong MEL or evaluation practitioner, comfortable working with communicating complex information in simple terms and engaging people in evaluation discussions as well as strong knowledge on data and systems, and passionate about meaningful impact measurement. Your style is flexible, adaptable and relationship-focused, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments, understand different perspectives and work sensitively within evolving organisational dynamics.

You also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications (or equivalent experience) in evaluation, data science or social science.
  • Demonstrated success in developing staff MEL capabilities and implementing a variety of capacity building strategies to support learning
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing evaluation and MEL frameworks across a diverse project portfolio.
  • Expertise in data analysis, database systems and translating data into compelling evidence.
  • Advanced analytical and critical thinking; a natural storyteller who can turn complexity into clarity.
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder engagement skills.
