SHAC is seeking a full-time Financial Counsellor to join our My Money Program (MMP) team.

Career Opportunity

The ideal candidate will hold a Diploma of Financial Counselling and be registered with an affiliated professional body. They will work with families and individuals who are at risk of homelessness to provide financial counselling to increase housing sustainability and build financial resilience and literacy skills.

Job Responsibilities

The position’s responsibilities include:

• Completing intake assessments and developing financial case plans for people struggling to access or sustain rental housing
• Providing culturally sensitive financial counselling case management support to assist people to secure or sustain rental housing
• Negotiating assisted referrals to other required services
• Maintaining accurate client records and recording client data

Key Selection Criteria

• A Diploma in Financial Counselling (required)
• Well developed culturally sensitive case management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within the organisation and with external partners
• Ability to work within our strong values framework

Positions at SHAC are subject to the successful candidate being able to obtain a Working with Children card (Blue Card) and the maintenance of a current Qld Driver’s License and may also be subject to a police check.
