Position Overview
The role’s core responsibility is creating social media content and managing channels to communicate the team’s work including attending events, to build the Senator’s profile and advance progressive political change. It does so alongside the Canberra based social media and content producer.
Responsibilities
The Social Media and Content Producer will:
- Create timely and engaging content to communicate the Senator’s parliamentary and campaign work. This includes:
- Designing graphics for online, materials and print.
- Writing scripts, filming and editing videos for reels and other social media.
- Copywriting for social media, emails and other publications as required.
- Identifying new digital opportunities.
- Working with the team to develop and monitor social media strategies.
- Manage and monitor the Senator’s social media channels including:
- Scheduling content.
- Giving timely responses to community messages and comments.
- Engaging with online community groups on behalf of the Senator.
- Ensuring the accessibility of posts.
- Attend events with the Senator in order to capture content to be shared across digital channels.
- Assist with the creation and monitoring of advertisements across digital channels.
- Identifying and escalating issues to the team as appropriate.
- Maintain a clean and safe workspace, contribute to a safe and respectful workplace culture, and abide by work health and safety laws, policies and procedures.
Selection criteria
Essential:
- Demonstrated online communications and campaigning skills including content creation and social media administration. Highly developed written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- The ability to work as part of a team and manage competing priorities under tight deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Graphic design skills. Skills in Canva, CapCut and Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent software will be highly regarded.
- Ability to give and receive feedback in a creative context.
- An understanding of the Australian political context and the media and social media landscape.
- Understanding of and commitment to the Australian Greens’ principles and policies.
Desirable:
- Video production or photography skills.
- Experience in activism or community organisations.
- A drivers licence
