UnitingWorld is an agency of the Uniting Church in Australia, driving collaboration between people in Australia and churches overseas to address the causes and consequences of poverty, injustice and violence, working with partners in Asia, Africa and in the Pacific. Working with people of all faith, sexuality, ethnicity, ability or gender, UnitingWorld help local communities unlock their potential to set themselves free from poverty and injustice, translating rigorous, sustainable community development principles into a belief that local communities are best placed to identify the solutions to their own problems.

A new position of Associate Director - Operations has been created to drive operational performance across UnitingWorld within the context of higher external demand for services and programs within an internal context of driving innovation and continuous improvement. Reporting to the National Director and as part of the Executive leadership team, the Associate Director – Operations will have overall oversight for Agency operations, maintaining compliance with standards and regulations while ensuring effective and efficient operations of all work functions, including Human Resources, Communications, and Risk Management. Whilst there are functional areas holding specific responsibility for this position, there is also an autonomous aspect that will require a pro-active approach to identify improvement opportunities across other areas of Agency operations and through good engagement, collaboration and leadership, guide UnitingWorld in being a learning organisation.

To be considered, you will be an energetic, experienced and ethical leader, qualified with a relevant degree and aligned to the values of UnitingWorld. You’ll be a forward-thinking, highly experienced professional with a generalist background in Operations Management, a positive approach to leading and influencing others, and a track record of success in driving improved performance. Your skills and knowledge will be broad and deep across operations and include strong budgeting skills and business acumen, well developed interpersonal skills, and key strengths in influencing others and problem-solving. Knowledge and experience of working in the international aid and development sector and an understanding and commitment to working within a faith-based organisation will be highly regarded.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a values-driven generalist to apply their skills to this newly-created role and shape it to drive organisational improvement and make a real difference to people’s lives.
