Science & Technology Australia is expanding the acclaimed Superstars of STEM program and launching an exciting new program, Science Meets the Economy. This is your chance to play an integral role in both.

The Superstars of STEM program is growing a critical mass of diverse scientists appearing regularly in the Australian media to inspire our next generations of young Australians into STEM study and careers. STA's new flagship program, Science Meets the Economy will equip STEM leaders with the business and economic skills to drive generational change in Australian industry.

About the role

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, demonstrates good judgement, and has strong relationship-building skills. You will provide efficient, professional, and confidential support across both the Superstars of STEM and Science Meets the Economy programs. You will be supported to grow and lead in this role.

This is a full time role based in our Canberra office.

Responsibilities:

• Provide proactive and well-organised administrative support to the programs, including correspondence, database management, and meeting coordination.
• Be the main point of contact for participants in programs coordinating logistics and managing communications.
• Assist with program design, including identifying new training facilitators and creating program materials.
• Grow relationships with partner organisations and sponsors, ensuring acknowledgement and engagement commitments are fulfilled.
• Contribute to communications activities in support of programs and the organisation, which may include drafting social media content, creating electronic direct mail (EDM) communications, and updating website content.
• Other duties as required.

Selection criteria:

• Outstanding attention to detail and time management, and an ability to juggle competing priorities and respond quickly and professionally as issues unfold.
• Strong relationship-building skills with the ability to nurture successful relationships with a range of stakeholders, including STEM professionals, business leaders, and partner organisations.
• Excellent administration skills, including database management, correspondence, and event logistics.
• Experience with, or a strong interest in developing skills in, digital communications including social media management, EDM creation, and website content development.
• Dedication and willingness to assist other staff across the STA team.
• A passion for the STEM sector and a commitment to the principles of diversity, fairness, and equal opportunity.
