Joining an organisation that has been working in Vanuatu for more than 25 years you will ensure the overall management and effective implementation of Save the Children's development and emergency response programs in Vanuatu. Upskilling program and field managers and embedding strong processes to ensure quality program delivery are front-of-mind for you while you collaborate with the Senior Management team to improve the lives of vulnerable children in Vanuatu.

Where you come in:

In this 3-year maximum-term unaccompanied position, based in Port Vila - Vanuatu, you will lead a team of area managers and project officers to ensure timely, efficient and effective delivery of a high-quality child-focused and right based programs. You will be part of the Vanuatu Senior Management team and report to the Country Director.

You will make an impact by:

  • Building senior Ni-Vanuatu staff capability to build high performing teams and deliver quality programs
  • Assessing the strength and quality of program implementation processes and drive improvements across all levels
  • Ensuring programs are implemented in line with quality standards and grant compliance requirements
  • Positive representation with key government ministries and non-governmental stakeholders

…Your understanding of the social, economic and political issues of the region and country, partnered with your strong work ethic and commitment to upskilling teams, sees you drive your team to deliver immediate and lasting results. With a toolkit of various skills and experience, you are comfortable 'rolling up your sleeves' and applying your skills to get the work done. Humour, patience, resilience and your passion for instilling a learning and training agenda, is what sets you apart as a good people manager. You have experience of international development programming and a natural adaptability. You easily build positive relationships internally and externally. You are questioning, passionate and always looking to advance your work.

This role requires:

  • Senior management, program management or operations management experience gained within a humanitarian response and development context in the Pacific
  • Demonstrated management and development of diverse teams of national and international professional staff
  • Substantial knowledge/experience in humanitarian response and development program implementation
  • Experience in leading a shared service function including ICT, finance and procurement
  • Proven team leadership showing the development of staff and team capabilities
