Mental Health Lead Facilitator

Satellite Foundation

Established in 2009, Satellite Foundation is a not-for-profit charity that connects and empowers young people aged 8 to 25 years, who have families with mental health challenges. Satellite aims to foster a strong connection between young people, their families and the wider community. Our programs use a combination of creativity and the sharing of lived experience to combat isolation and promote confidence, self-esteem and good coping strategies. Satellite offers peer support in a range of in-person and online programs, workshops, activities and projects that are centred on connection.

At Satellite, our staff are committed to:

  • Placing children and young people at the heart of what we do and in the context of their family and their community.
  • Acting in the best interest of young people at all times and living our principles of creativity, connection and wellbeing.
  • Amplifying and embedding the voices and lived experience of children, young people and families through our co-creation framework, so they know their voices are heard and valued.

The opportunity

Make a Difference with Satellite

Are you passionate about empowering young adults and creating safe, creative spaces where they can connect, explore and grow? Satellite Foundation is looking for a Mental Health Lead Facilitator to guide and deliver our programs for young people aged 18–25.

In this role, you’ll lead multi-week group programs, mentor our facilitator team, support meaningful youth engagement, and help shape brave, inclusive spaces grounded in trauma-informed, non-clinical practice.

We’re seeking someone with:

  • Strong mental health and youth engagement experience
  • Confident group facilitation skills (online & in-person)
  • A passion for creativity, connection and community
  • Ability to guide teams, manage risk, and hold safe spaces

This role will primarily work on programs tailored specifically for young adults aged 18-25. Secondarily, the role may also support the co-facilitation of programs and activities for children and young people aged 8-17 years.

You will need to work flexible hours, be able to deliver programs in the evenings (online and in person) and on weekends at retreats. This role has a requirement to travel to regional areas at times, so a drivers’ licence and access to own vehicle is required.

We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, those from diverse age groups, abilities and backgrounds, those from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds, and LGBTQIA+ communities to apply.

Please refer to the position description for a full list of what you’ll be doing in this role and the essential and desirable skills and experience we are after. Past participants or volunteers in Satellite programs with suitable skills and experience are encouraged to apply.
