At Sexual Assault Support Service (SASS), you’ll be part of a specialist, trauma-informed organisation committed to supporting victim-survivors of sexual violence and their families. SASS delivers 24/7 crisis support services including over weekends and public holidays. We are seeking passionate, energetic and committed after-hours crisis counsellors to join our team. The role involves working on a rotating roster once every 3–6 weeks, covering a full week at a time. You will be rostered on to one of two shifts: Shift One – weekdays 4.30pm–11pm and weekends/public holidays 9am–9pm, or Shift Two – weekdays 11pm–9am and weekends/public holidays 9pm–9am.

We encourage you to apply for this role if you:

  • Can respond to call-outs to coordinate and physically attend (onsite) forensic medical examinations and police statements for recent sexual assaults, and support victim survivors through this process
  • Have professional experience working in crisis response and sexual assault (essential)
  • Have a degree in counselling, psychology, social work or similar with eligibility for membership of the relevant professional association (APS, AASW or PACFA)
  • Have a passion for providing trauma-informed support
  • Can work from home outside of normal hours on a rotating basis
  • Are accessible outside normal business hours as part of ensuring sustainable 24/7 service coverage
  • A current National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable People Card are requirements for all SASS employees.
