Roses in the Ocean is a national not for profit organisation founded on and operating through the lens of lived experience of suicide; we exist to save lives and reduce emotional pain. With our actions driven and guided by those with a lived experience of suicide, we strive to innovate and transform suicide prevention, drive and deliver system reform and support organisations and government to effectively and meaningfully integrate lived experience expertise into suicide prevention.

Everyone who works within Roses in the Ocean has a lived experience of suicide which is defined as ‘having experienced suicidal thoughts, survived a suicide attempt, cared for someone through suicidal crisis, or been bereaved by suicide.’

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, the Operations & Compliance Coordinator supports organisational compliance, governance and quality activities across Roses in the Ocean by coordinating compliance requirements, maintaining registers and records, supporting audits and accreditation processes, and ensuring organisational documentation remains current and accessible.

Working collaboratively across the organisation, the role helps monitor compliance obligations, track actions and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen organisational effectiveness and support the achievement of governance responsibilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating organisational compliance activities and monitoring key compliance obligations and deadlines.
  • Maintaining compliance registers, tracking systems, evidence repositories and governance documentation.
  • Supporting audit, accreditation and quality assurance activities.
  • Coordinating policy review schedules and ensuring organisational documents remain current.
  • Supporting the maintenance and continuous improvement of organisational WHS systems, registers, reporting and compliance activities.
  • Preparing compliance reporting and tracking information for organisational oversight.
  • Following up actions with stakeholders and supporting accountability for compliance requirements.
  • Supporting the ongoing administration and coordination of quality management and governance systems.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen organisational effectiveness and compliance practices.
  • Providing administrative and coordination support to the General Manager Operations as required.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will bring:

Essential

  • Lived experience of suicide and a deep understanding of its impact on families, workplaces, friends, and communities.
  • Experience coordinating compliance, governance, quality, risk, administration or operational activities.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records, documentation and tracking systems.
  • Demonstrated experience using systems, databases and digital tools to monitor and manage information.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • A proactive approach with the capability to identify issues, follow through on actions and support continuous improvement.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism and discretion when working with sensitive information.
  • A current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
  • Complete a national criminal history check

Desirable

  • Experience working within a not-for-profit, community services, healthcare or regulated environment.
  • Knowledge of governance frameworks, audit processes, accreditation requirements, quality management systems or organisational compliance programs.
  • Knowledge of WHS legislation, WHS management systems, incident management processes or workplace risk management.
  • Experience supporting audits, policy management or organisational risk activities.

Salary: $94,145.15 – $96,593.10 plus super (Full-time equivalent), pro rata 0.8 FTE
