Rights In Action (RIA) is an independent advocacy organisation committed to promoting, protecting and advancing the rights of people with disability. We work alongside individuals to ensure their voices are heard, their rights are upheld, and they are empowered to make informed decisions about their lives.

As we enter an exciting period of organisational renewal and growth, we are seeking passionate, skilled and values-driven individuals to join our Board of Management.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to a respected community organisation while helping strengthen governance, leadership and strategic direction.

About the Role

Board Members provide strategic oversight and governance to ensure Rights In Action continues to deliver high-quality advocacy services and remains financially sustainable, compliant and aligned with its mission and values.

Board Members are expected to:

  • Attend Board meetings (generally monthly or bi-monthly).
  • Participate in strategic planning and governance discussions.
  • Contribute professional skills and experience.
  • Support organisational accountability and good governance practices.
  • Act in the best interests of Rights In Action and the people we support.
  • Attend and participate in General Meetings where possible.

Prior Board experience is welcomed but not essential.

Commitment

  • Volunteer position.
