We are currently recruiting for Supported Independent Living (SIL) Support Workers to join our NDIS Support Services, Toowoomba team. Within our mental health Supported Independent Living homes, this role is about more than maintaining a household, it is about creating the conditions where recovery can take shape. You will walk alongside residents as they rebuild routines, strengthen practical life skills, reconnect with their community, and grow in confidence as they move toward greater independence.

Working within a shared living environment, you will deliver structured, recovery-oriented support aligned to individual plans. You will contribute to a safe, respectful and consistent household while promoting autonomy, personal responsibility and meaningful participation in daily life.

In this role, you will:

  • Support residents with daily living routines, including personal care, meal preparation and maintaining a safe and welcoming home.
  • Monitor wellbeing, recognising early signs of distress and escalating concerns appropriately.
  • Encourage the development of everyday skills such as cooking, budgeting, organisation and self-care.
  • Support access to appointments, social connection and broader community engagement.
  • Provide calm, steady emotional support that reinforces dignity and recovery goals.
  • Respond to behaviours of concern using trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate effectively with the broader team to ensure continuity and quality of care.

This is a shift work position operating across a rotating roster and includes weekend work and sleepover shifts. A minimum availability of 20 hours per week is required. You Will Have:

To be successful in this role, you will bring both capability and professional maturity to your practice.

You will have:

  • Demonstrated experience supporting people living with mental ill health, preferably within a Supported Independent Living, community or residential setting. A Diploma in a human services related field, or a Certificate IV in Mental Health (or equivalent), will be highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated ability to support residents to achieve defined outcomes in line with individual plans and organisational requirements.
  • Proven experience working effectively within a team environment and contributing to positive, cohesive working relationships.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to maintain accurate and timely records using office-based and mobile technologies.
  • A clear understanding of professional boundaries and the ability to work within organisational policies, procedures, work health and safety requirements, and ethical practice standards.
