A rare and exciting opportunity for an experienced community-minded leader to join the highly regarded, non-government peak organisation, National Shelter.
In this dynamic and hands-on CEO role, it is your primary responsibility to lead National Shelter in the achievement of its strategic goals and management of the organisation’s day-to-day operations. For this unique opportunity, the successful candidate must be ready to actively model a collaborative and strategic organisational culture, provide inspired leadership, establish great working relationships with the National Shelter Council, their members and stakeholders, and build on the financial sustainability the organisation has established.
National Shelter is a small organisation with a big and bold agenda, and it is the CEO’s duty to ensure the organisation maintains its well-recognised reputation as the peak body aiming to improve housing access and affordability for Australians living on low incomes.

As someone who is passionate about changing housing policy and outcomes in Australia, you are a recognised leader with the ability to identify opportunities to advance the endeavours of the organisation. The successful candidate must be ardent and have a contemporary understanding of the sector/housing issues, with the ability to raise public awareness, negotiate and influence government policy and action.

National Shelter is the peak body for housing and the secretariat to the National Shelter Council. Established in 1976, National Shelter is an independent not for profit organisation conducting systems advocacy, policy and legislative research and community engagement around the housing system. National Shelter seeks fairer, improved access to housing that is affordable for people living on low incomes.
