About the Organisation

With 60 years of service to Australian communities, the ADF is an independent not-for-profit and Australia’s leader in AOD harm prevention. Their mission is to inspire positive change and deliver evidence-based approaches to minimise alcohol and drug harm. By collaborating with local sporting clubs, workplaces, health clinics, and schools, they advocate, educate, and deliver comprehensive harm prevention programs.

About the Role

This new role in the NT offers an incredible opportunity to join a very special national team in addressing drug and alcohol-related harms and leading the delivery of prevention programs. As the focal point of ADF in the NT, you will proudly represent the ADF and proactively develop strong partnerships with NT sporting clubs, local councils, and community organisations, whilst participating in and facilitating community forums, workshops, and external events.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Address local AOD issues through an agile holistic place-based approach
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with community groups, stakeholders and partners
  • Engage and collaborate with ASTI community leaders and groups exercising cultural awareness, sensitivity and understanding
  • Contribute, promote and deliver ADF programmes, community events, forums, workshops and pilot programmes
  • Effectively plan, manage and deliver projects and programmes, meeting milestones and KPIs within compliant policy and legislative framework
  • Ensure all data and program activity is recorded accurately
  • Actively participate in internal working groups, attend ADF communities of practice sessions, professional development and training opportunities.

About You

To thrive in this role you will hold a Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in health, health promotion or related field. In the absence of a formal qualification, candidates with demonstrated equivalent experience in a community development role are encouraged to apply. In addition, you will possess the following:

  • Understanding of drug and alcohol-related issues, harm reduction and harm minimisation approaches
  • Demonstrated understanding and practice of community development principles and a willingness to pro-actively engage with communities to support delivery of place-based harm prevention approaches
  • Awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture to form genuine relationships and work collaboratively with community to achieve outcomes
  • Strong self-starter to independently plan and deliver on program performance objectives and targets in collaboration with nation-wide team
  • Excellent communication skills with experience developing difficult stakeholder relationships and influencing change

Travel & Compliance

  • Interested candidates must already hold, or be willing to undergo, a Working with Children check (OCHRE)
  • Inter-state and State-based travel is required as part of program delivery and will be required from time-to time. Interested candidates will need a current Driver’s License and have their own vehicle.
