Board Members x2 - Queensland Positive People Board - Remote / Work from Home

Queensland Positive People

Are you living with HIV and a Queensland resident?

As QPP continues to grow and Queensland's HIV response enters a dynamic new chapter, we need passionate people living with HIV to help guide our future.

Queensland Positive People (QPP) is seeking two new Board Members to join our governing Board.

This is an exciting opportunity to give back to the community in a meaningful way while helping shape the future of HIV services, advocacy and peer support across Queensland. We are particularly interested in appointing someone who lives outside the south-east corner of the state.

About QPP

Queensland Positive People (QPP) is a peer-led, community-based organisation committed to improving the lives of all people living with HIV and helping reduce new transmissions of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) across Queensland.

QPP delivers accredited community health and social services throughout Queensland, including:

  • HIV and STI testing and treatment services
  • Peer navigation and case management
  • Community development and social support
  • Advocacy for people living with HIV and affected communities.

QPP currently employs 43 staff and manages an annual budget of more than $5 million.

Who We're Looking For

We encourage applications from people living with HIV who are passionate about improving health and wellbeing outcomes for our communities.

Previous board experience is welcome but not essential. We are seeking people who are committed to good governance, strategic thinking and community leadership.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with skills, experience or interest in areas such as:

  • Governance and leadership
  • Finance, accounting or risk management
  • Strategic planning
  • Human resources
  • Legal or compliance
  • Communications and stakeholder engagement
  • Community advocacy and lived experience leadership

Most importantly, you will bring your lived experience, commitment to our communities, and a passion for QPP's peer-led approach.

Commitment

Board members serve in a voluntary capacity, with remuneration available in accordance with the Health Consumers Queensland Remuneration Guidelines. All reasonable travel and meeting expenses are reimbursed.

The Board meets 5-6 times per year:

  • Four to five online meetings of approximately two hours each
  • One annual full day in-person strategic planning and governance meeting

Why Join the Board?

  • Make a meaningful contribution to the lives of people living with HIV across Queensland
  • Help shape the future direction of a growing and influential organisation
  • Develop your governance and leadership skills
  • Work alongside committed community leaders and experienced directors
  • Be part of a dynamic and important period in Queensland's HIV response

QPP needs strong community voices at the Board table. If you're ready to help shape the future, we'd love to hear from you.
