ABOUT THE ROLE

Penrith Women’s Health Centre is seeking an Intake Support Worker to join our Health and Wellbeing Services team. The Intake Support Worker is the first point of contact for women seeking access to PWHC services across both Health and Wellbeing Services and Safety and Empowerment Services. The role supports front of house workflow, provides a warm and trauma informed welcome to all walk ins, telephone and face to face scheduled presentations. The Intake Support Worker completes an initial intake assessment of presenting needs, assesses practical support brokerage eligibility and facilitates safe referral pathways. This is a Penrith centre based support role within the Health and Wellbeing Services team. The role also maintains a small non domestic and family violence support caseload & coordinates Work Development Order clients, participates in relevant community sector events and hubs, and contributes to safe, timely and consistent referrals and intake practice across the organisation.

ABOUT YOU

Selection Criteria

Essential:

  • Certificate IV, diploma or relevant qualification in community services, welfare, or a related field, or equivalent demonstrated experience in the community services sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in intake, client support, front of house service delivery, telephone information and referral, or a similar community services role.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage women in a trauma informed, strengths based, client centred and culturally safe manner.
  • Ability to undertake initial intake and needs assessment, identify urgency and risk, and escalate matters appropriately within role scope.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, respond calmly to walk in and phone presentations, and maintain organised workflow in a busy service environment.
  • High quality communication, interpersonal and documentation skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of privacy, confidentiality, professional boundaries and accurate recordkeeping.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural safety and the ability to work respectfully with Aboriginal people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
  • Commitment to feminist, trauma informed and strengths based practice.
  • Current driver licence and ability to attend community sector events and hubs as required.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with women impacted by domestic and family violence, culturally linguistically diverse communities or First Nations communities.
  • Experience with practical assistance programs or Work Development Orders.
  • Previous experience in a not for profit or community health setting.
  • Knowledge of Penrith and neighbouring service systems, referral pathways and local community supports.

Other Requirements:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Australia.
  • Current National Police Check.
  • Current NSW Working With Children Check.

Additional Role Specific Requirements:

  • Current drivers license
  • Capacity to attend community hubs and events

POSITION DETAILS

  • Full time or Part time will be considered
  • Fixed-term until 30 June 2027
