DV Connect is a leading provider who provides the Queensland-wide domestic and family violence helplines, Womensline and Mensline, Sexual Assault Helpline for anyone who has been impacted by sexual abuse, including friends and family of survivors of assault, whether recent or historic and also provides VictimConnect, a new program supporting people impacted by violent crime in Queensland, and clinical oversight as well as specialist counselling services under the National Sexual Assault, Domestic and Family Violence Counselling Service, 1800RESPECT.

The Role- OFFICE BASED ROLE

This is a Permanent Part Time Positions-Covering a 24/7 service with shifts ranging from so full availability is required.

6am-3pm

7am-4pm

12pm-8pm

2pm-8pm

4pm-9pm

5pm-8.30pm

7.30pm-3.30am

9.30pm-6.30am

11pm-7am

Midnight - 8am

Through the Purpose, Vision and Values, the Crisis Intervention Counsellor role is responsible for providing domestic and family violence support and guidance to Queensland women through information and referral, crisis counselling, safety planning, advocacy and providing safe accommodation and travel. Crisis Intervention Counsellors are responsible for making professionals assessments of caller needs and taking all reasonable action to meet client needs within the operating framework and principles of client. At times, Crisis Intervention Counsellors may need to respond to incoming calls on the Queensland Sexual Assault line and Mensline.

To Be Successful

  • Tertiary Qualification (minimum 3 years duration) in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, or relevant field.
  • 2+ years' experience in the community sector.
  • Experience in the domestic and family violence and/or community sector.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with women who have experienced domestic and family violence preferably within in a crisis context.
  • Demonstrated understanding of feminist practice and how this is used as a framework to understand and respond to the gendered nature of violence against women and children.
  • 2+ years' experience in the community sector.
  • Solid IT skills.
  • Be a resilient and courageous leader who achieves impact through a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
  • Significant demonstrated ability to manage complex and competing projects within agreed timeframes including planning, implementation, and coordination of key deliverables.
  • Exceptional and effective interpersonal, communication, conflict resolution, presentation and engagement/consultation skills using a range of contemporary engagement practices.
  • Commitment to social justice, clients values and its’ role in delivering services to people impacted by violence and abuse.

Additional Criteria

  • Positive Notice Blue Card and National Police Check or ability and willingness to obtain.
  • Right to work in Australia.
  • Proof of your 2 x doses of Covid-19 Vaccination will be required for this position prior to commencement.
  • Willingness to undertake further training and development.
  • Be available to work a 24/7 roster.

Salary and Benefits

  • $82,045.60pa - $88,277.80 + Super
  • Boost salary with penalty rates as per award
