Over the last 4 years, PHM Health has been providing service to NDIS participants within the Sydney Metro, Central West and Newcastle & Hunter regions. As of last year, the organisation has now created a not-for-profit organisation PHM Health Australia. The goal of both organisations is to enrich the lives of those in need, and their loved ones, by helping them to make decisions over their own lives, whilst always observing our highly regarded responsibility to provide professional and compassionate care.
Over this period we have experienced massive growth from the increasing demand for our services and now we are looking to expand nation-wide.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a new role assigned to prepare financial statements and provide financial information and interpret the implications for business performance. Financial accountant is responsible for budget preparation and for delivering long term profit forecast and financial reporting.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare financial statements and business activity statements on accounting systems
- Providing assurance about the accuracy of the information contained in financial reports and their compliance with statutory requirements
- Lead the annual budgeting process across the organisation including engaging with financial manager and providing advice and information to the Executive to assist in their decision-making
- Lead the organisation’s end-of-month activities ensuring all month-end procedures such as month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations and other month-end duties are completed in a timely manner
- Examining operating costs and organisations' income and expenditure
- Preparing cash flow statement for presentation to directors and management
- Lead the interim and end-of-year external audit activities, with the aim of achieving an unqualified audit report
- Prepare periodic financial progress reports and acquittals for submission to funding providers
- Working closely with the Finance Manager, prepare the organisation’s annual financial statements ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and ensuring obligations under the ACNC Act and ASIC are met
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- CA or CPA qualification (or near completion)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in finance or accounting roles within the not-for-profit industry or current significant experience within a chartered accounting firm is highly desirable
- Previous exposure to payroll functions within an organisation and knowledge of current payroll legislation
- Experience in financial reporting and analysis, preparation of budgets and financial reporting to management and funding agencies
- Experience in providing advice to management on budgets, financial reporting, and expenditure control
- Experience with internal and external financial audit processes
- Experience using accounting software packages (experience with Xero Accounting Software, NDIS claims portal, Microsoft Dynamics and HR Payroll Software Solution)
- Advanced ability in MS Excel essential. Intermediate ability with the MS Office suite of products such as Word, Outlook and SharePoint
- Xero experience highly regarded
