Odette & Co

Account Manager – Storytelling for Social Impact

Odette & Co specialise in thought leadership at the intersection of social change and personal storytelling.

The problems we work on are complex, urgent, and deeply rewarding. Domestic violence. Youth homelessness. Sexual violence and advocacy. Miscarriage and reproductive loss. Bullying. Systemic inequality. O&C don’t work across lifestyle brands, our focus is PR that shapes public understanding, influences policy, and shifts culture.

At O&C, we believe strategic storytelling is one of the most powerful tools for social change. Through sharp media strategy and deeply human narratives, we translate social issues into stories that build empathy, mobilise communities, and put pressure where it matters.

When done well, O&C PR campaigns reframe public conversations, support advocacy, and influence decision-makers.

  • Location: Remote (Australia-based)

About O&C

O&C is a specialist PR agency focused on storytelling for social and environmental impact. We work with organisations and founders leading change across issues such as early pregnancy loss, maternal mental health, end-of-life care, youth homelessness, domestic violence, bullying, and climate and environmental responsibility.

Based in Byron Bay with a fully remote team, our clients are values-led and impact-driven. Many are working within broken systems and contested public conversations. What unites them is courage, urgency, and a desire to do better.

We take our craft seriously. We operate as a small, senior, high-performing team. Every pitch is crafted with precision, every journalist relationship nurtured with care, and every client backed by a strategy that elevates them as thought leaders. We care deeply, and we expect you to bring that same drive and dedication. It requires rigour, care, emotional intelligence, and a strong sense of purpose.

The Role

As Account Manager, you will play a central role in bringing important social issues into the national conversation. You will pitch daily, help shape thought leadership platforms, and support clients to cut through a crowded media landscape with clarity and credibility.

This is a role for someone who wants to grow into a senior strategist and sees PR as a lever for influence and change, not just coverage.

This role will suit someone who:

  • Already has a strong PR foundation and understands what it takes to land meaningful coverage.
  • Is deeply media-literate and consumes news, podcasts, and cultural commentary daily.
  • Thrives in a high-accountability environment where outcomes matter.
  • Is motivated by impact and unafraid of complex, sensitive subject matter.
  • Wants to build long-term capability in thought leadership and campaign strategy.

What You’ll Do

  • Pitch stories daily to national, state, and specialist media.
  • Identify and engage journalists in ways that genuinely align with their beats and interests.
  • Help shape and place thought leadership through commentary, op-eds, and profiles.
  • Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with journalists over time.
  • Contribute to campaign ideation and execution across social change and advocacy projects.
  • Track progress with precision, maintaining accurate records in Asana and Harvest.
  • Bring curiosity, initiative, and fresh thinking while upholding O&C’s bespoke pitching standards.
  • Handle sensitive stories with care, judgement, and respect for lived experience.

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone who is serious about their craft and their career.

  • Over 3 years’ PR agency experience.
  • Strong pitching skills and confidence engaging media directly.
  • A clear interest in thought leadership and helping clients find and refine their voice.
  • Highly organised, accountable, and comfortable managing competing priorities.
  • Culturally aware, media-savvy, and instinctively understands what makes a story land.
  • Energised by social and environmental change, with the emotional intelligence to work on complex and confronting issues.

Why Join O&C

  • Work on campaigns that contribute to real social and cultural change.
  • Build expertise in high-impact storytelling and earned media strategy.
  • Learn directly from senior practitioners who are deeply invested in your growth.
  • Be part of a values-led, high-performing team where care and excellence coexist.
  • Grow your career doing work that matters, and doing it well.
