About the role
The Adult and Information Services Librarian role is responsible for organising book groups and other reader development programs, local history talks, promoting and acquiring adult collection items, e-resources, and also for identifying and acquiring items for the ganbo marra and Local Studies collections. There is a requirement to supervise staff and work placement students, and an opportunity to provide culturally safe programming for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. This role also assists in the maintenance, organisation and preservation of materials relating to the history of the local community.
Skills and experience require to perform the role
- Teamwork, supervisory and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to resolve problems using creativity and originality when required, and to defuse potential conflict.
- Ability to contribute to and deliver projects and programs, including developing, planning, implementing, and reviewing, within agreed timeframes.
- Ability to consistently lead, motivate and coach staff and to gain the cooperation and support of team members to achieve team goals and objectives.
- Demonstrated experience in organising community-based programs and services to targeted groups.
- Demonstrated experience in information provision and collection management.
- Demonstrated customer service experience.
- Eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
- Demonstrated understanding of Child safety and wellbeing requirements and how this applies in the library setting.
- A current Working with Children Check.
