The Stroke Foundation is a national not-for-profit organisation that works with stroke survivors, carers, health professionals, government, and the public to reduce the impact of stroke on the Australian community. Our mission is to Prevent Stroke, Save Lives, Enhance Recovery.

Purpose of the program

The Corporate Services Division includes finance, IT and business systems, legislative and regulatory compliance functions of the organisation. The team ensures efficient and effective financial governance, organisational performance information and systems support are delivered to support the strategic priorities of the organisation.

Purpose of role

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for leading corporate services including Finance, Business Operations and IT, Risk Management, Legal & Compliance. The CFO is also accountable for leading improvement initiatives including integrated reporting, business performance measurement and evaluation and productivity post ICT strategy implementation.

As a member of the Executive Team, the CFO ensures that corporate services support and enable the Stroke Foundation to grow its revenue and increase its mission impact.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Work with the CEO and Executive Team to shape the strategic direction and support the effective execution of strategic plans to advance the mission of Stroke Foundation.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to ensure good governance requirements and inform business development through both historical analysis as well as forward looking forecasting and budgeting.
  • Maintain a comprehensive risk management framework through appropriate internal controls, insurance, regulatory and audit compliance, including management of the internal risk management policy.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive insights on business performance to the business, including the Executive and Board of Directors.
  • Ensure that organisational infrastructure is managed in a safe cyber secure environment and developed to support growth and seamless delivery of service requirements

Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • CA or CPA Qualified or equivalent degree in Finance (essential)
  • Post graduate qualifications in Business Administration or Management field (desirable)

Skills and Experience

  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, including the demonstrated ability to impact positively on strategic, tactical, and operational initiatives
  • Exceptional interpersonal, relationship-management and people-management skills, including the ability to influence, motivate and guide a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to work under broad direction and with a significant degree of autonomy and decision-making power
  • Highly developed management skills including change management, project management and strategic planning and implementation skills
  • Highly developed strategic thinking with strong problem-solving skills, with a commitment to continuous quality improvement
  • Advanced computer skills and literacy.

Experience

  • Proven track record working at a similar level – Chief Operating Officer, Head of Corporate Services, Finance Director level
  • Substantial experience working with and advising Board members
  • Experience in business transformation, revenue and inorganic growth.
