Youth Development Officer - NPY Regions

NPY Women's Council
  • Permanent full-time position
  • Remote based - regional Western Australia (various locations)
  • Relocation assistance provided

People of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are encouraged to apply.

The NPY Women's Council’s Youth Service works with children and young people (aged 10-25) and their families living in the NPY region. The Youth Service model is based on four key components: Case Management, Leadership and Education, Youth Diversion and Recreation, and Advocacy.

We are now recruiting for a Youth Development Officer (YDO) to join our Youth program. The role of the YDO is to support the overall youth program in remote Aboriginal communities with the assistance of the Anangu Support Workers. Along with running activities for children and young people; the Youth Development Officer will provide case management, support young people who are at risk and inspire those who are doing well to achieve their goals. This position is remote-based, in regional Western Australia (various locations) with regular travel within the NPY Lands to support other programs and returning to Alice Springs every 8-12 weeks for supervision, case reviews, personal tasks, health and wellbeing.

The ideal candidate will be passionate about this type of work, with a willingness and capacity to learn the skill sets you don’t yet know. In this role, you will need to have high energy and be committed to working alongside Anangu. You will have values that closely align with our guiding principles, be resilient, driven and strong in relationship building. Relevant experience in youth work and exposure to remote indigenous communities will be highly regarded.

This is a unique chance to work for an organisation that takes a grassroots approach to community development. You will live, work and build lasting relationships within a remote community and get to experience an amazing landscape and part of the world.

NPY Women’s Council is led and governed by women from the NPY region and follows strong values and high principles that guide our work. We provide a comprehensive orientation program, best practice supervision, professional development that includes vicarious trauma training and a range of counselling services to support you.

In addition to this, we offer a generous remuneration package as per below. You will receive an above award salary, salary packaging benefits, 32 days of annual leave, 15 days of personal leave (to care for you and your family) and a retention bonus. We also provide NPY Women's Council accommodation and use of a company vehicle when travelling.
