NPY Women's Council is an Anangu-led organisation delivering health, social and cultural services across the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara (NPY) region.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Project Officer – Our Future to join our Tjungu Team and support young people with intellectual disability, their families and communities to prepare for key life transitions and access the support they need to thrive.

This exciting role is funded through the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing under the Information, Linkages and Capacity Building Reform Grant.

About the Role:

The Our Future project focuses on:

  • Co-designing and delivering future-planning workshops for young people with intellectual disability transitioning into adulthood.
  • Supporting families through workshops, peer support activities and information sessions.
  • Partnering with key organisations including SACID and Inclusion NT to ensure culturally safe and relevant resources and supports.
  • Developing innovative approaches to delivering foundational supports across remote and regional communities.
  • Working closely with communities across Central Australia, including remote areas of the Northern Territory and South Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate referrals and strengthen pathways to disability and support services.
  • Work in partnership with an Anangu/Yarnangu Support Worker.
  • Facilitate workshops, bush picnics and community discussion groups.
  • Develop culturally safe and accessible information resources.
  • Build strong relationships with families, communities and service providers.
  • Maintain client records, project documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Monitor project outcomes and contribute to evaluation activities.
  • Identify service gaps and emerging community needs.
  • Support project reporting, financial acquittals and stakeholder engagement.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Demonstrated experience in project coordination, community development, disability services or a related field.
  • Experience facilitating workshops, group activities and community engagement initiatives.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience preparing reports, maintaining records and collecting data.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • An understanding of person-centred and strengths-based approaches.
  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications:

Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial experience in:

  • Disability Services
  • Community Development
  • Human Services
  • Project Management
  • A related discipline

Requirements

  • Current Australian Driver's Licence
  • Current Criminal History Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Working with Children Check (where applicable)
  • Current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to travel to remote communities and stay overnight when required
  • Ability to operate a manual 4WD vehicle or willingness to undertake training
