Hobsons Bay and Maribyrnong Leads the Way is an 18 month project that will foster grassroots community leadership located in local Neighbourhood Houses.

Objective

The position will be responsible for effective delivery of all aspects of the West Leads the Way (WLTW) projects including engaging community and Neighbourhood Houses, reporting to funders and Project Steering Group, coordinating activities of partners, grant writing to fund project evaluation and support of project evaluation.

Key position responsibilities and duties:

  • Build local working groups and partnerships that support the WLTW project and offer mentorship and pathways for project champions.
  • Engage with and support participating Neighbourhood Houses to provide a nurturing and engaging space for project rollout.
  • Support, resource and report to the Project Steering Group to ensure that the PSG can have informed discussions on the project direction
  • Write grant applications for evaluation (not funded through the project) and other initiatives that may be proposed for the project
  • Oversee evaluation, from engagement of an evaluator to the evaluation roll out
  • Document the project and report to funders and other delivery partners
  • Manage day to day financial and administration aspects of the project
  • Support and collaborate with project partners including Hot House Community Projects and other consultants

Other duties as required

Key Selection Criteria

  1. Demonstrated understanding of Community Development principles and project delivery, preferably in the context of the Neighbourhood House sector
  2. Experience in delivering community projects with multiple partners
  3. Previous experience working with First Nations communities and people from migrant communities is desirable
  4. Demonstrated ability to build networks across different sectors of the community
  5. Ability to write successful grant applications and project reports
  6. Personal characteristics of the successful applicant will include:
    1. Ability to work independently under minimal direction
    2. Commitment to working collaboratively and listening to all project stakeholders
    3. Excellent organisational skills

Qualifications:

  • A valid Victorian driver’s license
  • Recognised qualification or equivalent experience in community development or bi-cultural work
  • Current Police check and Working with Children check
