  • Term: 6 months (with the potential for a further term)
  • Reports to: Chairperson
  • Supervises: No supervisory duties
  • Work hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 5.00 pm (with reasonable additional hours outside of normal business hours) (flexibility around this)
  • Award: Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (Social and Community Services Employee)
  • Classification: Level 5 or 6 (depending on skills and experience)

About Nairm Marr Djambana

Nairm Marr Djambana is an Aboriginal Gathering Place and Neighbourhood House that provides services, programs and activities for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the Frankston area. We aim to strengthen the health and wellbeing of the fast growing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community and to drive strong social, economic and cultural outcomes for the community.

About the role

Nairm Marr Djambana is seeking the services of a highly skilled and motivated Workforce Development Consultant to implement Nairm Marr Djambana’s Workforce Development strategy.

Key responsibilities

Project Manager:

  • Manage the workforce development strategy including strategic workforce planning and analytics, leadership strategy and development, social enterprise opportunities, evidence-based talent management practices and designing the future Nairm Marr Djambana’s workforce which meets the needs of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community
  • Develop a work plan with actions and timelines

Coordination:

  • Coordinate and supervise volunteers, contractors and consultants

Engagement:

  • Workforce Development Sub-committee
  • Undertake engagement with key partners and stakeholders
  • Participate in relevant networks
  • Contribute to a culturally safe, welcoming environment

Budgeting and funding:

  • Identify and apply for funding opportunities
  • Ensure compliance with funding agreements, including preparing and submitting reports for funding bodies

Marketing:

  • Oversee marketing and promotional activities
  • Increase participation in programs and activities

Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and organisational policies and procedures
  • Align with our values and guiding principles

Working with the Board:

  • Direct reporting to the Chairperson
  • Provide reports and advice to the Board as required
  • Support the Board to develop and implement Nairm Marr Djambana’s strategic and business plans
  • Identify and escalate organisational risks to the Board
  • Other duties as reasonably required by the Board

Key Selection Criteria - Essential

Qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent experience in the community sector or in a similar role
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities (highly desirable)
  • Driver’s licence and car (highly desirable)
  • Satisfactory police check and Working with Children Check

  • Project management, development, implementation and evaluation

  • Cultural awareness and safety
  • Stakeholder engagement
  • High level of administrative and organisational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Development of funding applications and reporting
  • Marketing and promotion
  • Computer literacy skills in Microsoft office suite, outlook and internet

  • Project Management experience
  • Workforce development experience
  • Coordination of volunteers, contractors and/or outreach services
  • Experience supporting a Board or other governance structure
  • Compliance with regulatory requirements
