MSI Australia
  • Location: Remote / Virtual (meetings held via Teams or Zoom)
  • Time commitment: Quarterly meetings (4 per year), plus occasional reading/preparation time
  • Role type: Volunteer / Consumer Advisory Panel Membership

About MSI Australia

MSI Australia is Australia's leading specialised non-profit advocate and provider of abortion and contraception services. We are the only nationally accredited provider of abortion, contraception, and vasectomy services in the country. We aim to provide a holistic, client-centred approach that empowers all individuals, regardless of ethnicity, beliefs, social circumstances, or geographical location, to control their reproductive health safely and with dignity.

About the Panel

We are seeking Consumer Participants to join our Client Care, Service & Experience Advisory Panel. The Panel provides consumer and community advice and input into the strategic and operational activities of MSI Australia, with a particular focus on quality, safety, and risk management.

Panel members contribute collective advice on strategy, policy, and practice matters, helping to ensure that the voices and lived experience of consumers genuinely shape the services we deliver.

What You'll Do

As a Consumer Participant on the Panel, you may be asked to contribute to:

  • Evaluating service delivery from a consumer perspective
  • Identifying gaps in service delivery and policy relating to abortion and contraception care
  • Reviewing policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure they meet best practice, accreditation standards, and legislative requirements (including the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights)
  • Fostering collaboration with external partners and stakeholders
  • Supporting clinic-based quality and safety activities
  • Participating in relevant consumer forums, sharing diverse perspectives from consumer groups and communities

Who We're Looking For

We welcome applications from people aged 18 and over who are pro-choice. Diversity is at the core of Panel appointments, and we particularly encourage applications from people with a range of:

  • Lived experience (with or without personal experience of abortion or MSI Australia services)
  • Geographic backgrounds (metropolitan, regional, and remote)
  • Ages
  • Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds
  • LGBTIQ+ identities

We are also committed to First Nations representation on the Panel and strongly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.

No formal qualifications are required, what matters most is your willingness to share your perspective and contribute to improving reproductive health services for the community.

Commitment

  • Panel meetings are held quarterly (4 times per year) and conducted virtually via Teams or Zoom
  • Meeting agendas and materials are provided at least one week in advance
  • Panel membership is reviewed annually
