The Opportunity

The Department of General Practice is seeking to appoint a Community of Practice Support Officer for a central role in the Australian Contraception and Abortion Primary Care Practitioner Support (AusCAPPS) Network.

You will be responsible for developing and maintaining a digital Community of Practice (CoP) for general practitioners (GPs), practice nurses and community pharmacists to support the delivery of long-acting reversible contraception and medical termination of pregnancy in primary care. The CoP is a key intervention component of both the AusCAPPS Network and the ORIENT and ALLIANCE studies.

The CoP Support Officer will work with the Project Managers, Project Team, Project Investigators and other stakeholders across both the AusCAPPS and ORIENT projects to build and implement the CoP website, assist in sourcing resources for GPs, practice nurses and community pharmacists for dissemination through the CoP, and provide online support for CoP users.

The AusCAPPS project is a new National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Partnership trial that explores long standing and well-defined barriers to the primary care provision of long-acting reversible contraception and medical termination of pregnancy in Australia.

The ORIENT study is a new Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) funded trial that will explore whether a nurse-led model of care involving task-sharing and telehealth can increase access to long-acting reversible contraception and medical termination of pregnancy services in general practice for women living in rural and regional areas.

The ALLIANCE study is a second MRFF-funded trial that will evaluate whether a complex intervention in pharmacy increases the use of long-acting reversible contraception by women who are seeking the emergency contraceptive pill or filling a script for MS-2 Step. The implementation of this model will be supported with online education, academic detailing and a virtual community of practice.

Ideally, we are seeking an individual with a graduate degree, strong skills in developing educational materials for clinicians, training and supporting others in the use of new technologies, including online user support. You will have excellent interpersonal communication skills and familiarity with the primary care and or women’s health sectors.

This position will involve travel to various campuses, some of which are not easily accessible via public transport.

This role is a part-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

At Monash University, we are committed to being a Child Safe organisation. Some positions at the University will require the incumbent to hold a valid Working with Children Check.
