About the organisation

The Midland Information Debt and Legal Advocacy Service (Midlas) is a not-for-profit Community Legal Centre with offices in Midland and Ellenbrook that supports eligible clients in the north east Perth region with legal services, disability advocacy, financial counselling, tenancy advocacy, community outreach support and information and referrals.

About You

Midlas is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Community Services Manager to join our team. The Community Services Manager will provide daily leadership, support and oversight to Midlas’ staff and services to ensure project implementation is efficient and effective and meets the funded goals and objectives.

About the role

The role will provide leadership and operational management across Midlas’ community services and will be responsible for overall service delivery and management services, key projects and the operational function of the organisation.

Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team and CEO, the Community Services Manager is responsible for providing direct leadership and support to the following aspects of the organisation:

  • Community Services including Financial Counselling, Financial Capability and Well-being, Disability Services and Outreach Services;
  • Client Experience;
  • Service integration and delivery;
  • Service improvement and delivery;
  • Ad-hoc projects

Required Education/Licences/Certificates

  • Tertiary qualifications in social work, psychology, community development or a related field or relevant experience at a senior management level in the not-for-profit community services sector
  • Minimum five years’ managerial experience managing large teams over diverse service areas
  • Possession of a current unrestricted driver’s license, comprehensive car insurance for business use and reliable vehicle
  • Possession of current satisfactory National Police clearance certificate (no older than 3 months from the issue date) and ongoing renewal every 2 years at employee’s expense
  • Possession of Working with Children Check
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • COVID-19 vaccination certificate

Relevant Experience, Skills/Knowledge & Personal Attributes

  • Demonstrated experience in working with clients with complex needs across a range of diverse service areas including financial counselling and well-being, outreach services and disability
  • Demonstrated positive and effective stakeholder management with other agencies in a service or community network
  • Demonstrated experience managing service agreements, program budgets and liaising with contract managers
  • Experience in risk management including client and staff safety, confidentiality, duty of care, mandatory reporting, according to relevant legislation
  • Understand legislative, contractual and internal policy, practice and reporting requirements in the sector
  • Experience in building successful teams and leadership skills that promote a positive team culture
  • Demonstrated experience in sound financial management and general management practices, including WHS, performance management and professional development of staff
  • High level written, electronic and verbal communication skills with the ability to liaise efficiently and effectively with a Board, CEO, Managers, external bodies and stakeholders
  • Sound ability to negotiate effectively with high level of problem-solving skills, exceptional time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to adhere to and meet KPI’s, deadlines and program and quality outcomes
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and client database management systems
