Position Objective
The Digital Projects Worker will coordinate the day-to-day implementation of the Young Digital Mentor Program funded through the Capacity Builder Grant. The role will recruit and support young mentors from culturally and linguistically diverse communities, coordinate digital literacy training, maintain participant records, support program evaluation and ensure all project milestones are achieved on time.
The role promotes digital inclusion by empowering young people to become Digital Mentors who assist family members, older people and community members to improve their digital confidence and access to online services.
Background Information
Migrant Information Centre (Eastern Melbourne) (MIC) provides support to people from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds residing in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The region covers the Local Government Areas of Boroondara, Whitehorse, Manningham, Maroondah, Knox, Yarra Ranges and Monash. MIC is governed by a Board of Directors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Project Coordination
- Coordinate implementation of the Young Digital Mentor Program in accordance with the approved project plan.
- Monitor project milestones, timelines and deliverables.
- Prepare project documentation and maintain accurate project records.
- Support continuous improvement activities.
- Monitor project risks and escalate issues to the Senior Manager Strategic Projects.
2. Recruitment and Engagement
- Promote the Young Digital Mentor Program across Eastern Melbourne.
- Develop promotional material with the Communications Team.
- Recruit young people aged 14–24 years from multicultural communities.
- Liaise with schools, youth organisations, community groups and partner agencies.
- Coordinate participant registrations.
3. Digital Mentor Training
- Coordinate Digital Mentor training sessions.
- Organise venues, equipment and resources.
- Support delivery of Good Things Australia accredited training.
- Maintain attendance records.
- Register mentors within the Good Things Australia platform.
- Ensure all participant compliance requirements (Police Checks, Working with Children Checks where applicable) are completed.
4. Participant Support
- Provide ongoing support and coaching to Digital Mentors.
- Maintain regular communication with participants.
- Coordinate volunteer and mentor activities.
- Assist participants experiencing barriers to engagement.
- Facilitate networking opportunities and peer learning.
5. Monitoring, Evaluation and Reporting
- Collect participant outcomes and digital skills assessments.
- Maintain accurate databases and project statistics.
- Prepare monthly KPI reports.
- Contribute to funding reports and acquittals.
- Support project evaluation activities including surveys and impact measurement.
- Assist with Board and management reporting.
6. Partnerships and Community Engagement
- Develop relationships with local organisations.
- Attend community events promoting digital inclusion.
- Represent MIC at networking meetings.
- Promote culturally safe and inclusive engagement practices.

- Register participants on the Good Things Australia platform.
Participant Outcomes
- Provide post-training support to all mentors.
- Collect digital skills assessment data.
- Demonstrate improved digital confidence among participants.
- Maintain high participant satisfaction.
Reporting
- Monthly project reports completed.
- Grant reports submitted on time.
- Accurate participant database maintained.
- Evaluation completed.
These KPIs align with the funded project activities including recruitment of a Lead Digital Mentor, recruitment of 100 young people, delivery of Good Things Australia training, registration of mentors, provision of post-training support, implementation of digital skills assessments, project evaluation and submission of progress and final reports.
Key Selection Criteria
Essential
- Studying towards or a relevant qualification in Community Services, Youth Work, Digital Technologies, Education or related discipline.
- Experience coordinating community projects.
- Experience working with young people and should speak another language than English. Preference will be given to Mandarin, Cantonese, Farsi or a language spoken by Myanmar communities
- Strong understanding of digital literacy and digital inclusion.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills.
- Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
- Excellent organisational and administration skills.
- Ability to use Microsoft Office, databases and digital platforms.
- Current Victorian Driver Licence.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- National Police Check.
Desirable
- Good Things Australia accreditation or willingness to obtain.
- Experience delivering digital literacy programs.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Ability to speak a community language.
