Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS) is the specialist domestic violence service for the Brisbane metropolitan region. Brisbane Domestic Violence Service is funded by the Department of Justice and Attorney General to provide free and confidential services to adults and children who have been impacted by domestic and family violence. BDVS has a focus on achieving safety and stability for the individuals and families that we support.

How you will make a Difference:

As a Specialist DFV Child and Youth Advocate you will work as part of the BDVS team to support children, young people and protective primary care givers impacted by domestic and family violence, to live free from violence and to assist with the emotional and practical needs and issues arising from their experience.

This is a permanent full time employment opportunity, with conditions and salary at Level 4/5 of the SCHADS Award dependent on qualifications and/or experience.

To be considered for this role, you’ll need to demonstrate organisational skills and ability to prioritise, respond to multiple demands in a complex work environment.

You will also have knowledge of or ability to acquire relevant knowledge of legislation and regulations, such as The Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 Section 5A Information Sharing, the Child Protection Act 1999, and an understanding of the Family Law Act.

Experience in working with children and families who have experienced domestic and family violence, including case management and group facilitation skills, as well as knowledge of and ability to apply a trauma informed approach to service delivery with children, young people and parents in support and advocacy is essential for this role.
