Your new role

As a Service Development and Promotion Officer you will be responsible for:

  • Working with consortia partners to identify service gaps and develop projects, initiatives and community development strategies to improve the health and well being of caring families and promote community participation/social inclusion.
  • Developing strategies to engage carers from diverse communities; LGBTIQA+, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, newly emerging communities.
  • Developing content for presentations and carer communication material. Ie, newsletters.
  • Coordinating and delivering information sessions and present at events. Ie webinars, conferences and oversee the promotional activities and initiatives delivered by consortia partners.
  • Evaluating activities that guide continuous improvement and conduct annual, detailed service area mapping.

What you’ll need to succeed

To be successful with Merri you will go above and beyond to achieve great results for our clients, the organisation and yourself. We’re looking for individuals with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Community Development, Health Promotion, Social Work, Public Health or appropriate, equivalent discipline or experience.
  • Knowledge of the community care sector, including the challenges faced by young carers and carers of people with a disability, chronic illness, mental health condition and older people.
  • High-level gap analysis and research skills with demonstrated ability to search for, appraise, analyse data and provide recommendations to inform practice and decision making.
  • Experience in delivering information sessions and presentations to a range of audiences (ie carers, service providers, government) and ability to create effective and persuasive communication.

What we offer

The Service Development and Promotion Officer is responsible for overseeing awareness-raising and promotional activities of the Carer Gateway across Victoria. The role will work collaboratively with Carer Gateway consortia partners to ensure that initiatives are tailored to meet the needs of local communities.
