About the role

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Services and based at our central office in Footscray, this is an autonomous, hands on role supporting strong relationships across the business and delivering all aspects of the Human Resources function.

The role’s primary focus and responsibility is to support McAuley Community Services for Women to have an engaged and capable workforce in order to achieve our strategic goals by supporting leaders and people managers to become more confident and capable in managing people; developing excellent organisational people management practices and furthering the use of and investment in technology and self service.

About You

You will have:

  • 7+ years as an experienced HR generalist including 2 years at senior business partner or manager level
  • Sector expertise (preferably the community and family violence sector)
  • Hands-on experience of delivering and improving a full spectrum HR service in a not for profit organisation
  • Experience of working as the sole HR practitioner in an organisation, solving problems and making things happen!
  • Results-oriented with a commitment to delivering excellence; supporting strong relationships; achieving agreed goals and leading others well

Qualifications and experience:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant field
  • Experience developing and delivering contemporary HR practices covering: Industrial Relations and legal compliance; HR policies and practices; employee relations; HR advice and support; recruitment and employment, HR administration including specifying HR workflows and using online HR applications such ELMO; employee engagement and listening; growth and development; HR reporting and OH&S
  • Experience advising senior management and people managers with confidence and a proactive approach
  • Experience developing and implementing HR initiatives and programs
  • High productivity and output: excellent organisation, planning and time management skills and comfort juggling multiple competing priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
