About the Role
Are you an inspirational leader ready to launch a revolution in Australian dementia care? Mavin Plaza Chelsea is proud to introduce Australia’s very first immersive, reminiscence-based dementia day program. Featuring a state-of-the-art indoor 1960s–1970s themed plaza, this ground-breaking care model explicitly evokes long-term memories, reduces anxiety, and improves the quality of life for individuals living with Alzheimer’s and related dementia conditions.
As our inaugural Centre Director, your primary mission is local growth, community integration, and operational excellence. You will be the face and heartbeat of Mavin Plaza, driving grassroots marketing, securing local B2B referral partnerships across both Aged Care and NDIS sectors, and managing day-to-day operations to maximise enrolment. While our CEO drives national thought leadership, you will build the flawless local blueprint that proves our model works.
Key Responsibilities
- Therapeutic Program Delivery: Oversee daily reminiscence therapy programs within our distinct vintage spaces, tailoring activities to participants' cognitive, physical, and NDIS goal-based capabilities.
- Community Integration: Break down barriers by inviting local community groups, volunteers, schools, and civic organizations to integrate neighborhood life into our indoor village.
- Referral & Pipeline Management: Secure ongoing participant referrals from NDIS Support Coordinators, allied health professionals (OTs, physios), local health networks, GPs, and geriatricians.
- Compliance & Excellence: Lead daily operations ensuring 100% compliance with both Aged Care Quality Standards and NDIS Practice Standards.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, onboard, and inspire a world-class team of Diversional Therapists, Lifestyle Assistants, and support staff.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: 3–5 years leading operations in Australian aged care, memory care, or disability sectors, with a proven track record in community sales and managing B2B referral pipelines.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, Dementia Care, Social Work, Diversional Therapy, or a related field.
- Dementia & Funding Expertise: Proficient understanding of dementia progression, responsive behaviours, and evidence-based non-pharmacological interventions, paired with a solid working knowledge of both My Aged Care and NDIS funding pathways.
- Family & Caregiver Support: Act as the primary, empathetic point of contact for families navigating a dementia diagnosis. Guide them through the intake process, coordinate vital respite care, and facilitate dedicated caregiver support networks and educational resources.
- Personal Attributes: High emotional intelligence, exceptional local networking capabilities, and outstanding skills in volunteer coordination and community event planning. Prepared to work in the Plaza, alongside staff and role model.
- Compliance Knowledge: Thorough working knowledge of the Aged Care Act and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission regulations.
