The Marlin Coast Neighbourhood Centre (MCNC) would like to invite expressions of interest for the part time position of Seniors Program Co-ordinator (SPC).
This is an exciting opportunity to join the MCNC team in engaging with seniors and mature aged people in the Cairns northern beaches community to provide information, individual support & referral; a social/recreational program; and promote the invaluable contributions made by seniors and mature aged people to their community.
The role of the SPC is to plan, manage and facilitate the Senior’s program; respond to and provide information, individual support and referral to community and other organisations; to research and share information with the MCNC team regarding resources & support services available; and to maintain knowledge on changes to policies, processes and opportunities relating to seniors and mature aged people.
The position currently offers any person with an interest and experience in seniors and community development the opportunity to nurture and support this cohort and to engage with participants of the MCNC Seniors program and respond to and provide individual support, information and referral to community enquiries.
The position requires skills in networking across a range of organisational structures including government, non-government and the private sector highlighting the role and valuable contributions seniors/mature aged community members provide to their communities.
This position requires the person to manage a program specific to the current funded Department of Communities, Disability Services and Seniors (DCDSS) neighbourhood and community centres.
The Marlin Coast Neighbourhood Centre’s Safe and Confident Living Program is funded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Seniors and Disability Support. As per the Service Agreement between both parties, the Centre is required to deliver two discrete and time specific reportable activities being:
A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (eg. Human Services, Social Work, Community Welfare, Community Development) and sector experience is required. Applicants currently undertaking such qualifications with sector experience may be considered.
Other relevant qualifications in conjunction with considerable experience in working with older people in a community service environment may also be considered.
The position is part time at 16 hrs per week Fisher Award Level 4.1 and commences Tuesday 6th July, 2021. The days are Tuesday and Thursday 8.30am – 5.00pm.
A three-month probationary period will apply.
