ABOUT THE ROLE
Macleod Refuge is proudly a feminist domestic violence refuge providing supported accommodation on the Gold Coast since1992. We are recruiting a Senior Case Manager for our expanding service. As part of a small team, your role will encompass three key areas: a senior case manager, women’s support worker, and group facilitator.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE:
- Degree qualification in social work, counselling or related field OR 7 years demonstrated high level of sector knowledge and skills attained through previous appointments, service and study/development within the domestic violence sector;
- Minimum 5 years paid experience in the community and domestic violence sector utilising your skills as a counsellor and/ or social worker;
- Understanding of feminist theory and contemporary family violence practice, including the gendered nature of violence, social justice principles, crisis intervention and working with trauma;
- Apply a feminist lens to case management and demonstrated experience in providing staff support aligned with feminist theory
- A current QLD Drivers Licence
- Valid QLD Blue Card
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia

THIS ROLE HAS 3 KEY FOCUS AREAS
Senior Case Manager
- Demonstrated knowledge, experience and skills in family violence risk assessment, client-centred case management, safety planning, and client advocacy.
- Commit to work within a feminist framework and have a strong knowledge of gendered base violence against women and children.
- Demonstrated understanding of the life cycle stages in a family violence context, including the use of power and control, social, historical, political, legal, cultural and organisational/systems impacts on victim and survivors.
- Understanding of state-based legislation as it pertains to family violence, privacy and child protection legislation relevant to service delivery
- Work closely with the Manager to develop and improve staff practice
- Participate in relevant local network meetings that are specific to supporting services addressing domestic and family violence.
- Demonstrated conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated commitment to reflective practice
- High level of resilience and self-care
Women’s Support Worker
- Conduct assessment of client needs and decisions regarding case management and referral pathways;
- Demonstrate cultural responsiveness in case management to a diverse group of women and their children
- Work collaboratively with child support workers to ensure the holistic needs of the mother and accompanying dependents are met;
- Ensure client case notes/records and data collection requirements are recorded electronically in SHIP and adhere to organisational policy and procedures with respect to quality standards, privacy and confidentiality.
- Ensure all work with women and children is holistic and evidence-based, reflecting their needs whilst aiming to promote independence, resilience and enhanced quality of life.
- Provide holistic co case management with relevant service providers
Group Work Facilitation
- Facilitate group work that effectively incorporates domestic violence prevention and information on supported pathways to foster empowered choices for life after refuge.

Macleod Refuge hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Hours can be negotiated across this period to support work-life balance. All staff are required to be a part of a rotating on-call roster to respond to residents who experience an emergency after business hours. On-call staff are required to work onsite at the refuge on Saturday and Sunday for 2 hours each day, the rotation is approximate every 4 weeks.
The salary range for this position is Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award Level 6 to 7
Pay range $90 000 - $110 000 + superannuation, salary packaging available.
