MacDonnell Regional Council (MRC) is looking for a Project Officer for our Digital and Library Service.

About us

The MRC region is located in the centre of Australia. Covering 270,000 sq km and with an estimated population approaching 7,000, it has a unique beauty with picturesque water holes, magnificent flora and fauna, red desert sands and rugged mountain ranges.

About you

As the Project Officer - Digital and Library Services you will demonstrate initiative, innovation, creativity and flexibility; and have the ability to work autonomously with a strategic focus on program objectives. This role will require you to have a solutions focus and the capacity to build strong stakeholder networks.

About the opportunity

You will be positioned in Alice Springs and spend approx. 70% of your time travelling to and working in, remote Aboriginal communities implementing and developing the MacConnect program for MacDonnell Regional Council residents and employees.

Working in collaboration with the Manager Community Safety and Library Services you will be:

  • Delivering relevant Digital Literacy and Digital Safety training workshops to residents and staff
  • Collaborating with NT Libraries and other stakeholders to provide and maintain public Wi-Fi hotspots in all MRC Communities and promote this service
  • Providing continuous improvement to program delivery

What's needed?

Ideally you will hold a diploma level qualification, or at the very least be working towards one, in Library and Information Services / Information Technology / Digital Media and Graphic Design or other related field.

Your knowledge of community development principles and the ability to train participants to successfully operate the software within a culturally and linguistically diverse environment will serve you well in this role.
