We're Australia’s leading Young Carer organisation, supporting young people aged 4 to 25 who provide unpaid care for a family member affected by disability, chronic or mental illness, substance use or conditions related to ageing in VIC, NSW and QLD. Since our launch in 2009, we've become a game changing force in the Young Carer space, developing internationally recognised best practice programs and changing the lives of thousands of Young Carers around Australia.

Across a range of direct support programs, both in-person and online, we're working to improve the quality of life of Young Carers across five key areas of risk: education, employment, mental and physical health, social wellbeing and financial literacy.

A BIT ABOUT THE ROLE:

As a Program Facilitator, you’ll play a key role in delivering engaging and impactful programs to Young Carers in Queensland (Bundaberg, Toowoomba, Caboolture & North Lakes Areas), both online and in person.

In this casual Facilitator position, your primary responsibility will be to lead thoughtfully designed sessions tailored to the unique needs of Young Carers. You’ll foster a safe and inclusive space where participants feel encouraged to share their experiences, build meaningful connections with peers and develop practical strategies to support their wellbeing.

Core Responsibilities

Facilitation of Programs

  • Delivery of structured support groups for Young Carers, both online and in-person;
  • Support in the delivery of day-long activities, overnight retreats, peer support and/or tutoring sessions;
  • Provision of guidance to volunteers who will co-facilitate with you;
  • Creation of an environment where Young Carers feel comfortable to share and reflect on their experiences;
  • Encouragement of Young Carers to seek other supports where appropriate;
  • Overseeing of set up and pack-down of venues in line with session plans;
  • Distribution of impact measurement surveys for required sessions; and
  • Positive engagement with key external and internal stakeholders.

Program Administration

  • Completion of attendance data, facilitator feedback and program note-taking, including incident reporting when required; and
  • Completion of program training and/or program briefing requirements.

Community Outreach & Engagement

  • Identify opportunities for collaboration and partnerships; and
  • Represent Little Dreamers in the community.

You’re humble, hungry and kind!

You have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate genuine care to others.

Ideally you have some experience working with young people and delivering engaging and interactive workshops and programs. You have strong administration and organisational skills, the ability to manage competing priorities and you genuinely enjoy working with others. You have excellent attention to detail, are quick to take action and demonstrate initiative and you work well in a team.

WHAT’S THE SALARY LIKE?

This position is a casual role and classified as Level 2 under the Social Community Home Care and Disability Industry Award 2010.
