ORGANISATION OVERVIEW

Legacy WA is largely funded by the generosity of the general public and is a volunteer organisation providing information, referral and community-based welfare support, disability and youth services programs to widows, partners and children of deceased or ill-health veterans of the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Legacy WA services all Western Australia.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The position works collaboratively with and through the more than 100 member volunteers (Legatees) of the Legacy Club of WA.

The CSO role maintains contact with key stakeholders such as beneficiaries, staff and external agencies – specifically the Department of Veteran’s Affairs, ADF and other non-government and peak body information and community support agencies.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Participating in case management and other meetings
  • Coordinate and facilitate programs and the delivery of all services/support to our families relevant to their specific needs.
  • Under the guidance and direction of the Team Leader and in collaboration with the management team, deliver on key change management initiatives to ensure:
    • Stakeholder and volunteer engagement and support strategies and resources are in place.
    • Programs and services are aligned to the defined needs of our families.
    • Identifying trends or gaps and effectively planning and developing activities to strengthen the level of access to programs and service delivery for relevant categories of our clients in WA.
  • Prepare community service-related reports, addressing relevant KPIs, for submission to the Legacy WA Board of Director Papers.
  • Ensure that programs, policies, plans and activities are in place, are conducted safely and implemented successfully. Communication to key client groups including:
    • Young families of deceased contemporary veterans
    • Families living with an incapacitated Veteran
    • People with disabilities
    • Youth 6 – 25
    • Widows / Widowers (older demographic)
  • Engage and inform the volunteer workforce in service delivery in accordance with operational policies and procedures.
  • Contribute as a member of the team in matters of strategy, business planning and reform, policy development and review, reporting and key operational and administrative projects as directed by the CEO.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In delivering the Key Accountabilities of the role:

  • Assist the Team Leader with monitoring of the community services programs, namely:
    • Service delivery operations and outcomes.
    • Review community services programs and associated policy and operational procedures, in line with the mission and available internal and external resources.
    • Engage, inform and support the Legatee membership, primarily through maintaining effective communications with Committee Chairs and Legatees.
    • Provide expert advice to staff, members of the Legacy Club of WA, volunteers and Legacy beneficiaries on human services, government entitlements and other matters pertaining to Legacy service delivery, compensation and authorised services.
    • Attend a range of internal and external meetings, undertake training presentations to the membership and Legacy Community Services presentations to external agencies.
  • Assist with preparation of Monthly Report maintaining a proactive and strategic agenda in support of strategic and business planning goals.
  • Assist with planning and management of the Community Services budget.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Applicants must address the following criteria to be considered for this position:

Essential Selection Criteria:

  • Certificate 3 or 4 in Community Services or related discipline or at least 3 years’ experience in a community services environment.
  • Medium to advanced skills in Microsoft 365.
  • Willingness to undertake a National Police Check and obtain a Working with Children Card.
  • Willingness to undertake pre-employment psychometric testing.

Desirable Selection Criteria:

  • Accomplished networking ability with the capacity to collaborate with a variety of internal and external agencies and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated program, policy and practice development experience.
  • Good written communication and presentation skills including monthly and project reporting, and individual service planning.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS & CONDITIONS

The T&C of Employment are subject to confirmation within the Employment Contract or Letter of Appointment.

  • The hours of this position are negotiable as a part time salaried contract of approximately 20 to 25 hours a week indicatively from 8.30am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday.
  • A three (3) month probation period and periodic performance evaluation will apply.
